The Latest Trending Economic News Curated for You by Balmoral Group Australia
Good morning dear readers,
In this edition we have several stories on regulation updates. Firstly, This week's data visualisation shows a snapshot of NSW budget for the next fiscal year. The government plans to turn around their $15.3 billion deficit through a $9.4 billion debt reduction, saving $400 million in interest payments per year. They’ll redistribute these savings toward essential services, focusing on child protection, TAFE, public schools, and healthcare infrastructure. The new budget also establishes the “Investment Delivery Authority” to fast-track non-residential investments, and creates a “Pre-Sale Finance Guarantee”, facilitating early construction of approved housing developments.
In other updates, the Guarantee of Origin scheme is expected to launch late in 2025, while the new climate reporting rules for certain corporation will go into effect July 1st, with broader implementation expected over the next three years. We also explore how can Australia take advantage of the International Maritime Organisation's recent draft of net zero regulations for shipping and the impacts of pacific oysters on biodiversity.
Hope you enjoy the articles and have a great weekend!
